We want to hear your story about being injured at work. Maybe it was you who was injured on the job, or maybe it was a loved one. Submit your story to us and if you are selected you will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward your college tuition or law school tuition.

Founded on January 1, 2020, Workers’ Compensation Lawyer, Inc. is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving law or undergraduate student who authors a winning essay in our Essay Contest.

The Issue

No system is perfect, especially California’s workers’ compensation system. When someone is hurt on the job it becomes a bureaucratic nightmare of red tape: dealing with large insurance companies, third party administrators, and large corporate HR departments. We would like to hear your story of how you or a loved one experienced the workers’ compensation system in California.

Topic

We would like you to tell your story in a brief narrative including your background and education followed by a 500-750 word essay on the practical and legal experience of being injured on the job.

Judging Criteria

The winner will be selected based on overall writing ability, insight shared, and knowledge displayed on the topic.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to any current law school students and students at 2 year or 4 year colleges. Your application must be submitted below no later than the December 15, 2020 deadline.By submitting an application, the applicant grants Workers’ Compensation Lawyer, Inc. permission to post the applicant’s name, school or university, applicant’s photo, and the winning entry on the law firm’s website, and on other marketing platforms, including blogs, social media accounts, and related sites.

Winner Notification

The winner will be notified by phone, email and/or U.S. mail after the judging has been completed.

Award Distribution

The winner will be selected by December 24, 2020. The winner must provide proof of enrollment prior to disbursement of the award. The award will be disbursed by December 31, 2020.
